Internship Eagerness

The technical skills that I learned at Year Up that will add value to your company during my internship here are building computers, using the command prompt, troubleshooting, and identifying computer parts. The skill that I know I will display first at my internship is building computers because at my meet and greet my manager told me that we will start off doing build first and slow work our way through entering process of Kaiser. Well seeing that I have already had my meet and greet with my manager I will be working under two fun and outgoing managers that from what I see really displays one of our core values work hard and have fun. The hard skills I hope to develop while at my internship at Kaiser are learning the way the Kaiser system works on how they do their builds and tickets. The soft skill I hope to develop more at my internship is my speaking and writing skills I would like to learn in which the manner of speaking in their business jargon.

The only anxiety that I have right now about my internship is my transportation because I recently was in a car accident and is out of my car at the moment so I have to find the cheapest but fastest way to Oakland every day to be on time and ready to work. The way I plan to stand out while at my internship is to go above and beyond their expectations and taking on extra work if needed to.

Sutter Solano Medical Center

In 2008 I volunteered at Sutter Solano Medical Center in the ER. Working in the ER I learned a lot of different things and skills that would help me further in life. Some of the duties that I enjoyed were stocking the rooms up with supplies, interacting with the patience, and filing ambulance slips. The part of my duties that I  really a hated was that if a patience was to pass way I would have to go in the room and collet all of their belongings and sometimes touch them if their wallets were on their person. The primary jobs that I would have to do on a day to day basics was to stock the rooms, make sure patient was ok and giving them very lucid answers to when the doctor was coming in, ambulance invoice, and restock the stock room. Some skills that I had developed during this volunteer work were communication, invoices, and filing paperwork. A lesson I learned during this work was that you can’t work on your own time, not only your manager is watching you and evaluating you, and timeliness. Some lessons that I learned about myself is that I am a fast learner, I work well with others, and I pick up on things without even knowing. Overall I had a very good experience volunteering here and had fun doing so.
